Alcohol and tobacco sales volume monthly percentage change Great Britain 2014-2024

The volume of retail alcohol and tobacco sales in July 2024 grew by 2.4 percent compared to the previous year. The United Kingdom has some of the highest levels of alcohol and tobacco taxation in Europe, with the tax burden on a typical pack of cigarettes increasing exponentially year on year and the same trend seen in alcohol. Concurrently, manufacturers' prices are also increasing, resulting in higher levels of consumer prices.
